Decoda Literacy Solutions is pleased to announce the appointment of Maureen Kehler as Acting Executive Director.

Maureen has been a dedicated leader at Decoda for more than 14 years, supporting and strengthening British Columbia’s community-based literacy network. Throughout her time with the organization, she has built trusted relationships with Literacy Outreach Coordinators, Community Adult Literacy Programs, government partners, and community organizations across the province. Her passion for literacy and collaborative leadership make her well suited for this role.

As Acting Executive Director, Maureen will lead Decoda through an exciting period of growth and renewal. Working closely with staff, consultants, and partners, she will help develop a more stable, sustainable, and efficient operating model that ensures Decoda continues to fulfill its mission and mandate.

“Literacy changes lives,” says Maureen. “It creates opportunities for individuals, strengthens families, and builds more resilient communities. I’m honoured to step into this role and continue working alongside our dedicated staff and the literacy network to ensure people throughout British Columbia have access to literacy and learning.”

What distinguishes Maureen is her unwavering belief in the transformative power of literacy. She is a passionate advocate who continues to strengthen partnerships between community organizations, businesses, Indigenous organizations, and government, while championing literacy as a fundamental human right.

We are excited for the leadership Maureen will bring to both new and ongoing initiatives as Decoda continues its work to build a British Columbia where everyone has the literacy skills to thrive.
