Virtual Tutor Training Resources
Decoda is pleased to introduce the new adult literacy virtual tutor training resources! This project was a combined effort between literacy practitioners from Capilano University, Literacy Central Vancouver Island, Project Literacy Central Okanagan Society and Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy. Decoda Literacy Solutions coordinated the project.
The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in an unprecedented shift to online work and teaching. Trainers are in need of alternative methods for training literacy tutors. Three virtual train-the-trainer webinars first introduced the material in May 2021. The result of these efforts is a complete guidebook and adaptable presentations designed to be used as needed, taught individually or as a group and presented virtually or in person. Combined with the guidebook, a series of seven PowerPoint presentations are offered to cover the major areas of online training. The aim of these resources is support trainers who find themselves in a new arena of online instruction. The resources offer a solid foundation and guide to building a virtual training environment.
The complete collection of resources (in .pdf format) is available to all on Decoda’s website.
