CTRL-F: Find the Facts

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an infodemic – a rapid rise in viral digital misinformation. How can you make sure information is trustworthy?

CTRL-F: Find the Facts is a new project from CIVIX that teaches youth (and all of us) simple verification skills to help determine the reliability of sources and to evaluate the accuracy of news and information during the COVID-19 pandemic, and every day. The project aims to build the foundational skills for seeking out accurate and credible information online.

The learning tools centre on three fundamental skills:

Investigate the source

Check the claim

Trace the information

In addition to these videos, the CTRL-F website has skill building videos for each of these skills and quizzes to check your understanding.

While CIVIX developed CTRL-F as a tool for developing digital skills for citizenship, there is a new report indicating that digital literacy is important for helping young people manage their health. Read Expand school digital literacy lessons to cover health technologies used by young people for report findings.
