BC Summer Reading Club – Crack the Case!

It’s almost time for BC Summer Reading Club! This year’s theme is Crack the Case!

This free literacy program encourages reading throughout the summer and engages school-age children (5-14 years old) with their public library. Summer reading club is fun, educational, inclusive and community-oriented.

Seven weekly sub-themes carry the club through the summer:

  • Super Sleuths – Mystery stories, detectives, and crime
  • Crack the Code – STEAM and scientific discoveries
  • Hot on the Trail – The outdoors and nature
  • Secret Missions – Travel and exploration
  • Whodunnit? – Notable people and biographies
  • History’s Mysteries – The ancient world, history, and dinosaurs
  • Is it Real? – Monsters and the paranormal

All children and their families are invited to participate. “What is the BC Summer Reading Club?” brochure welcomes and supports the participation of families, including Newcomer families. It has been translated into multiple languages and is intended for use by libraries, settlement organizations, and community groups. A tip sheet for parents on the value of summer reading is also available in multiple languages.

Find reading suggestions in the BC Summer Reading Club 2021 Booklists.
